Martin began his career in banking in 1984 before moving on to Financial Advice a couple of years later giving him over 35 years’ experience in financial services.  During this time, he also studied law, something he finds extremely useful when dealing with clients and fellow professionals.  Martin has worked in and managed estate agencies dealing with property sales whilst also arranging mortgages for a significant number of people.  Martin has the Diploma in Financial Advice, the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice with additional qualifications enabling him to advise on Equity Release.  He is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Personal Finance Society and the Society of Mortgage Professionals.  Over the years Martin has enjoyed helping many clients achieve their goals through the application of sound independent financial planning, whether it be a couple buying their first home or someone needing advice on deciding how best to take their retirement benefits.  Martin also enjoys giving advice to business owners, from a sole trader setting up their first business to company directors arranging employee benefits or needing advice on how to most tax-efficiently plan the sale of their company.

Martin and his wife, Ros, have two children, Albert and Annabel, who attend school in Monmouth.  Prior to 2020 Martin enjoyed volunteering as a leader with the Scout Association.  He enjoys the outdoors in particular cycling, canoeing, fishing and the countryside, whilst also having an interest in genealogy, local history, antiques and art.  Martin enjoys sport in general and is a keen supporter of his local football team, Newport County.
